On the 10th June 2017, the 1st Chinese students table tennis tournament, which organized by ACSSNL-CSC branch and ACSSNL-Delft branch, was held in D.H.C club successfully. ACSSNL is Association of Students and Scholars in the Netherlands.
As we expected, approximately 45 players and more than 100 participants showed up in the big event. They came from various cities of the Netherlands and registered around 9 am in the morning. Due to group tournaments, we had 13 teams on behalf of various Universities, such as Delft 1st team, Leiden team, Wageningen team, Amsterdam team, Utrecht team, Rotterdam team, etc. The 13 teams were divided into 4 big groups and they had a group competition in the morning. Every top 2 teams of each group were qualified for the knockout tournament in the afternoon.
Our tournament started at 9.30 am and finished around 5 pm. During the day, the organizer ACSSNL-CSC provided water, fruit and delicious Chinese lunch for free. Finally, the team from Wageningen University won the title; the team from Delft University won the runner-up, and the team named ‘Tilburg little sister and Eindhoven little brother’ as well as the team name ‘Delft-empty’ tied for the third place.
Excitement and satisfaction filled with the face of each winning player. Such a trophy, is not only showing the level of recognition of each player, but also the best proof of the player’s passion for table tennis. During the match, athletes tried their best to compete with opponents, but also maintained respect for the opponent and friendly. After the tournament, the players talking and laughing, a lot of experts left each other contact and expected to play again. This made our tournament very meaningful and important, linking our overseas students tightly through table tennis.

The success of this event cannot be separated from the preparation of several students (Jiao Chen, Jin Chang, Tian Zhang, Fei Xu, Qian Feng, etc.) from ACSSNL-CSC association. They had been working on a few months of preparation and schedule. Besides, we should appreciate the volunteers from ACSSNL-Delft association who worked hard and tireless dedication. They actively helped all the participants and maintained the tournament in an orderly manner. Furthermore, this competition was particularly grateful to the support and sponsorship from the Education Section of Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands. The secretary Mr. Wang from Chinese Embassy attended the event as a representative and participated in the competition, which showed that the real love of table tennis is regardless of age and regardless of occupation. Last but not the least, thanks to the D.H.C club for supporting us with help and service.
Due to this tournament, our friendship just started. Training more and practising often, let us meet again next year!
